Chitrakoot Defence Corridor Gains Momentum as BEL Secures 75 Hectares for Mega Project
Lucknow News: The Chitrakoot node of the Uttar Pradesh Defence Industrial Corridor has received a major push as Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath handed over a land allotment letter of 75 hectares to Manoj Jain, Chairman and Managing Director of Bharat Electronics Limited.
The move marks a significant step in the planned and phased development of the Chitrakoot defence node, aimed at strengthening defence manufacturing infrastructure in Uttar Pradesh and accelerating industrial growth in the Bundelkhand region.

Major Investment to Create Jobs and Strengthen Defence Sector
Under the project, Bharat Electronics Limited will set up a state-of-the-art manufacturing unit with an investment of approximately ₹562.5 crore. The facility will focus on producing advanced radar and air defence systems, boosting India’s high-tech defence capabilities.
The project is expected to generate over 300 direct jobs, along with substantial indirect employment in ancillary and allied sectors. This is likely to open new opportunities for local youth and reduce migration in search of employment.
Chitrakoot Emerges as New Defence Manufacturing Hub
Strategically located in central India, Chitrakoot is fast emerging as a key hub for defence production due to its strong logistics connectivity and geographical advantage. The initiative is expected to attract further investments and promote technology-driven industrial development in the region.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said the project would strengthen indigenous manufacturing under the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat, reduce import dependence, and support the creation of an integrated defence ecosystem.
He also highlighted that Chitrakoot, traditionally known for its cultural and spiritual heritage, is now on the path to building a strong identity in defence manufacturing. The upcoming industrial unit is expected to drive balanced and inclusive regional development while fostering innovation, skill development, and modern industrial growth.
