CM Yogi Unveils Vision for Transforming Agriculture at UP Agricultural Science Congress 2026
Lucknow News : Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath outlined a comprehensive roadmap for the transformation of the agriculture sector while inaugurating the 6th Uttar Pradesh Agricultural Science Congress 2026 in Lucknow.
He emphasized that agriculture must move beyond mere production towards productivity, profitability, and ultimately prosperity. According to him, the vision of an Atmanirbhar Viksit Bharat can only be achieved when farmers become economically strong and self-reliant.

From Production to Prosperity: A New Agricultural Vision
The Chief Minister highlighted that increasing production alone is not enough; it must be made sustainable and profitable. He stressed that Uttar Pradesh is ready to lead this transformation, despite having only about 11% of the country’s cultivable land while supporting nearly 16–17% of its population.
The state contributes around 21% of India’s total food grain production and has successfully increased its agricultural growth rate from 8% to nearly 18%. He also called for converting discussions at the three-day event into actionable plans that directly benefit farmers.
Technology and Reforms to Drive Agricultural Growth
Highlighting the role of modern technology, the Chief Minister said tools like Artificial Intelligence, Internet of Things (IoT), drones, and satellite systems can revolutionize farming practices. These technologies can help farmers with real-time crop analysis, disease detection, soil monitoring, and weather forecasting, making agriculture more efficient and scientific.
He also underlined the importance of biotechnology and natural farming to address climate challenges, reduce costs, and maintain soil health. Digital platforms are enabling farmers to access real-time information on markets, prices, and weather, improving decision-making and income opportunities.
The Chief Minister further highlighted key reforms in the sugarcane sector, noting that payment timelines have improved significantly, with most mills now clearing dues within a week. Uttar Pradesh continues to lead in sugarcane and ethanol production, with over ₹3.15 lakh crore paid to farmers through direct benefit transfer (DBT).
He stressed that stronger coordination between farmers, scientists, government institutions, and markets is essential to build a robust agricultural ecosystem. With continued reforms and technological integration, the state aims to position agriculture as a profitable and respected profession while ensuring long-term food security and economic stability.
