Unique Craftsmanship Behind the Black Finish

The most distinctive feature of this pottery is its deep black color, achieved through a specialized process. Artisans first coat the items in a mixture of clay and plant-based solutions to create a base layer. The products are then fired using a specific technique, and elements like mercury, tin, and lead are used to give them a lustrous finish.

Government Support Strengthens Industry Growth

Under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the ‘One District One Product’ (ODOP) scheme has played a key role in giving this traditional craft wider recognition and access to global markets. Artisans are benefiting from training programs, financial assistance, and improved marketing support, leading to a steady rise in their income.

Sanjay Kumar Yadav, Director of the Black Pottery Foundation in Nizamabad, stated that the establishment of the Common Facility Centre has significantly improved their operations. With access to modern machinery, artisans are now able to ensure better quality and timely delivery of products.

The Common Facility Centre has streamlined the production process by providing raw materials and advanced equipment under one roof. Artisans can now produce, package, and market their goods more efficiently, enabling them to fulfill even large orders and achieve substantial business growth.

With continued government support, this traditional craft is not only preserving its heritage but also evolving as a strong contributor to the modern economy.
